About MeTeaching is where my passion lies. Developing creative minds and sharing my love of learning are the primary reasons I teach.
I am exceptionally proud to join the Spicewood team this school year as a 4th grade teacher. I am looking forward to working with your child, promoting a growth-mindset, and helping my students develop the essential qualities of an IB learner. In 2013, I graduated with my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana. Soon after, I taught at Pleasantdale Elementary in District 107. I spent my first year as an instructional assistant in 3rd and 4th grade, while also leading a popular art club. The following year I was offered a 3rd grade teaching position at Pleasantdale. During the summer of 2015, I made the move to Austin to teach 2nd grade at a dual language school, KIPP Austin Obras. This year in 4th grade, you can expect your child to enhance his/her critical thinking abilities, conceptual understandings, and social-emotional skills, along with knowledge of the core content. I strive for positive partnerships with parents and encourage active involvement in your child’s education. Stay updated by following our class Twitter account: seemore_w_cimo To share more about myself, I have always been fascinated by art and design. I continually notice how art evokes engagement and a deeper understanding within children. Because of this passion and desire to incorporate art into the classroom setting, I have taken 18 hours of graduate credit in the realm of art education. I currently live downtown Austin and enjoy spending my free time running on the boardwalk, exploring the Green Belt, catching live music, and experimenting with new healthy recipes. I look forward to not only learning more about your child, but also your family as a whole. Here’s to a fabulous year in fourth! |
